The Plan for Direct Democracy
Neville's plan to implement Direct Democracy for voters in London is incredibly simple. Security and encryption of online voting is no more complicated than personal online banking. And for those who don't use the Internet, voting will be as easy as participating in the National Lottery at the local corner shop.
So, if the plan to truly democratise London is so simple, why have the politicians not already handed over decision-making power to Londoners?
The Government is an Enemy of Democracy
Quite simply, because our government are elitists. They don't believe in genuine democracy. Behind closed doors they are ardent enemies of democracy. They only feign respect for the will of the people in the run-up to elections. Once elected, the notion of asking the people to decide anything is absurd and egregious to them. Government believes that it is they, the elite who know best and that we, the people are too ignorant to decide how to play a part in our own futures and to conserve and be good stewards of our own hard-earned taxes.
Neville is different. Neville believes in democracy. He believes in the innate decency and common sense of the British people, and their ability to make sensible decisions on their own behalf.
